DKSH and SAP celebrate more than two decades of collaboration

DKSH, the leading Market Expansion Services provider with a focus on Asia, and SAP, the market leader in enterprise application software, have underlined their long-standing relationship with a meeting in Malaysia while commemorating SAP’s 25th anniversary in the market.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, June 8, 2017 – Senior executives from DKSH and SAP recently met at DKSH’s Corporate Shared Service Center in Kuala Lumpur to mark over two decades of successful collaboration together.

With global operations across 780 offices and distribution centers that are connected to the cutting-edge SAP HANA platform, DKSH‘s relationship with SAP in Malaysia began in 1994.

Andrew Frye, Global Head, Business Unit Healthcare, DKSH, said: “With more than 8,000 SAP users within DKSH and around 45,000 transactions per day (more than 16 million transactions per year), DKSH operates one of the largest SAP platforms in Asia. The highly reliable global system forms the solid backbone to drive growth of our business partners, in healthcare and other sectors. For example, information from SAP allows our 4,200 healthcare sales and marketing specialists to accurately track sales and our business leaders to develop growth plans as well as plan headcount. This has helped us to become the leading growth partner for healthcare companies in Asia, being ranked – in terms of sales – among the top ten pharma/OTC companies in seven markets in Asia.”

Michael Hutab, Group Chief Information Officer, DKSH, added: “DKSH embraced digitization long before the term was coined and we were sure that it was a path that would be continued upon. We currently run on the SAP Platform across 31 of our markets. This investment into cutting edge technology is a real business necessity to cope with the volume of transactions that we see here at DKSH.”

Part of a global standardized Management Information System, SAP furthermore allows DKSH to manage client and customer inventory, manage records of more than 30,000 employees, and have near real-time financial information from all business locations.

“What SAP brings to the table is a 25-year presence in Malaysia and the platform to empower local companies to realize their fullest potential. With over 350,000 customers in over 180 countries globally, we are well-positioned to help local companies learn from global multinationals such as making their supply chain process shorter and more effective,” said Terrence Yong, Managing Director, SAP Malaysia.

“We are indeed humbled that DKSH’s operations are running on SAP to ensure greater efficiencies and profitability for the DKSH Group. We are heartened by the trust placed in us and feel a great sense of fulfilment that DKSH can realize its expansion aspirations by running SAP and Running Simple,” he added.

DKSH’s global IT platform is centrally managed from its Corporate Shared Services Center in Malaysia. Efficiently run by roughly 200 IT specialists, the center is the global hub for SAP and other IT tools such as mobile customer relationship management, merchandising management, sales order management, logistics proof of delivery and inventory management. It is fully compliant to industry standards like GxP and follows IT best practices like COBIT and ITIL. A dedicated state-of-the-art disaster recovery environment at a back-up location ensures continuance of business in case of an unlikely event of major fallout in the primary location.
