Our client is part of a prominent paper product manufacturing and printing services group headquartered in Hong Kong, with a manufacturing base in Vietnam. Employing over 2,000 workers, they produce a diverse array of paper products, including board games, card games, puzzles, greeting cards, educational materials, and premium packaging.

Keeping Quality at the Heart of Paper Product Manufacturer’s Growth

Challenge

As a foreign direct investment company, our client recently began constructing a factory in Vietnam to produce children's toys, 3D models, and greeting cards for export. These products must undergo hazardous waste inspections (RoHS) to meet international standards and compliance requirements.

The company required highly sensitive and reliable instruments, such as Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES) to monitor heavy metal content, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer to measure formaldehyde levels, and additional tools for sample preparation.

Approach

As the official distribution partner for Agilent products in Vietnam, we recommended Agilent's solutions, which met all our client's requirements. Testing results from their service labs consistently reference Agilent instruments used for sample analysis.

We provided a comprehensive solution for the design and implementation of QA and QC rooms, including exhaust gas and wastewater treatment facilities. The equipment supplied included ICP-OES system, Cary 3500 UV-Vis, ion chromatography system, microwave digestion, WPS, stirrer hotplate, oven, rotary evaporator, ultrasonic tank, and shaking water bath.

Our support included helping them navigate the complexities of setting up advanced analytical facilities in a new market and enhancing their operational capabilities to ensure compliance with international standards. Our services extended from tailored consultation and seamless installation to integration of all equipment. We also provided extensive training for their staff on operating and maintaining the new technology, and our after-sales support included regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and updates.

Result

The project is being implemented in two phases, with Phase 1 completed and Phase 2 scheduled for 2025. Phase 1 focused on investing in basic equipment for production, while mandatory indicators were temporarily sent for external testing. Phase 2 will involve further investment in advanced equipment, such as ICP-MS and XRF, to complete the laboratory setup.

This successful collaboration not only addressed the company’s immediate needs but also laid the foundation for future growth. By partnering with DKSH, the company ensured that its products meet the highest quality standards, paving the way for expanded operations and continued success in the Vietnamese market.
