Enriching Orang Asli Children’s Lives Through Safer Learning Environment Articles

Of those who have attended primary education, approximately 50 percent do not attend secondary school and half of the children drop out of school right after primary school education. It is this urgent action required to stop this decline that DKSH in Malaysia and SUKA Society have collaborated for the sixth year running to promote literacy and education equality among the Orang Asli community.

In the latest initiative, we organized a special visit to our adopted preschool called Kelas Komuniti Kampung Tanam in Kuala Rompin, Pahang, Malaysia. Supported by 50 DKSH employees from the Klang Valley and Kuantan branch offices, we created a captivating mural on the school’s brick wall fence, which was sponsored by us and helps safeguard against vandalism and creates a safe and conducive learning environment for the children.

The volunteers brought boxes of pre-loved clothes and toys, collected through an internal donation drive among DKSH employees, to further support the children's well-being. Our business clients and partners also chipped in with their generous sponsorship of products.

The event is part of DKSH Malaysia’s All-Round Improvement in School Education corporate social responsibility program, which aims to create a sustainable educational change among the communities in remote areas where access to education is severely limited. Through this program, DKSH Malaysia provides monthly sponsorship of school expenses for approximately 120 Orang Asli preschoolers aged three to six in seven aboriginal villages across West and East Malaysia.
