Singapore, April 2, 2025 – DKSH Singapore is leading an initiative to support quality science education for children and youths of all abilities, with hosting by Gardens by the Bay and participation from AWWA. As part of this initiative, close to 20 students with additional needs from AWWA’s Special Student Care Centre had the opportunity to engage in hands-on science experiments and sensorial eco-excursions, creating meaningful and inclusive learning experiences.
One of the key learning objectives focused on water quality testing, an activity led by DKSH Singapore Business Unit Technology. This activity helped the children to understand the importance of clean water in sustaining ecosystems and supporting innovations like vertical farming. Through simple yet effective testing methods, participants learnt how to detect organic material and impurities in water, reinforcing the critical role of water sustainability in urban farming and food security. To deliver the experience in an interactive manner, the team adopted the use of engaging narratives.
This initiative aligns with DKSH Singapore’s social impact framework. DKSH provides access to education in science, especially for children. By offering interactive experiments and multi-sensory nature-based learning, the program fosters curiosity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the plants and the ecosystem. At Gardens by the Bay, the participants had the opportunity to go on an eco-excursion when they were hosted on the Sensory Stroll - Touch Me if You Dare tour. The tour is part of the Gardens’ ongoing free Nature and Sustainability tour series that takes place every weekend for the public. On the tour, they were encouraged to explore nature through touch, sound and scent.
