DKSH also views waste management as an important mission to strengthen our commitment to the planet. In Vietnam, we have accelerated various initiatives in waste management to realize this with new eco-friendly packaging, digital transformation and donations.
DKSH also views waste management as an important mission to strengthen our commitment to the planet. The bulk of our waste is comprised of packaging materials from our logistics, besides gas emissions. Preparing goods for delivery requires mostly cardboard boxes and plastic film for pallet wrapping, and packaging waste is also generated from incoming shipments. In addition, there are a variety of products that are required to always be kept at a specific temperature. These items need extensive packaging to ensure the required temperature is maintained even when they are out for delivery.
We are continuously implementing the eco-friendly strategies to optimize our impacts. Our supply chain management team has recently reused the used carton cardboard to replace bubble wrap and styrofoam in packing goods for delivery. Furthermore, we are going to replace environmentally harmful packaging with a self-decomposing bag and a b-box (reusable cold chain box). This solution helps not only minimize non-biodegradable waste but also maximize our operational efficiency.
Furthermore, we utilize digitalization and deploy Paperless Distribution Center in operations, delivery, and invoicing to minimize paper usage with digital solutions. Being one of the most significant markets in terms of operational size, with 15 warehouse locations across Vietnam, we are ambitious to completely implement this project at all locations by 2026.
To share responsibility with the government, in 2022, we donated approximately one billion VND to the Environmental Protection Fund for waste treatment. This is also a testament to DKSH's commitment to work with authorities to achieve success in waste management in the local area.
