Lotus Bakeries is a Belgian biscuit company known for its biscuits and biscuit-based products around the world. It is active in the indulgent and natural snacking segments with the Lotus Biscoff, Dinosaurus, Peijnenburg, Annas, Nākd, Trek, Bear, and Kiddylicious brands.

Challenge

Our client needed new and modern approaches to further develop and strengthen its products' presence and brand awareness in Hong Kong and Macau. While it has successfully established a market presence in Europe, Middle East, US, and is rapidly growing in Asia, it was time to expand the brands into having a more substantial presence across Asia.

Approach

As the products already had a good following among consumers in the market, a key focus for us was to enrich the product range with more product varieties that would resonate with local consumers.

We intensified marketing efforts on raising the brand’s profile among the retail segment for the Biscoff cookies and spreads. In the food services segment, the emphasis was on getting more understanding among retailers and consumers of the wide range of Biscoff cookies, crumbles, and spreads, and their wide-ranging food applications such as cake base, pastry, and ice cream toppings.

By expanding the products’ availability across modern trade, general trade, food services, and even eCommerce platforms, we were able to help the client tap into more sales channels and incorporate more diversified marketing avenues.

Result

Using DKSH’s full-service model, Lotus Bakeries was able to grow its brand exposure through various marketing platforms, increase product retail promotions, and create innovative cross-over projects with renowned chefs, restaurants, hotels, and catering businesses.

As a result of the new product varieties introduced, our client recorded increased sales for the products in the market. Consumers have expressed that they like the new and more appealing Lotus brand and product portfolio.
