Businesses across the Asia Pacific are increasingly recognizing the benefits of integrating sustainability into their strategies and operations. This can lead to long-term value creation, risk mitigation, and enhanced reputation.
In terms of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, companies need to improve supply chain transparency, reduce carbon emissions, or ensure compliance with labor and human rights standards. They also need to develop and implement sustainability policies and procedures, and regularly monitor and report on their progress.
To support DKSH’s ESG initiatives and keep us aligned with global standards, we are working in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact initiative. The program is the largest corporate responsibility initiative in the world for the development, implementation, and disclosure of responsible business practices. Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact houses more than 15,000 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 markets and more than 70 local networks.
We believe that this is a positive step forward in taking responsible business action to create a better world. As a participant in the UN Global Compact, we are committed to aligning our strategy and operations with ten universally accepted principles on human rights, labor, environment, anti-corruption, and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
At DKSH, our purpose is to enrich people’s lives. We do so by providing reliable access to high-quality and responsible products and services, creating sustainable value for our partners, and contributing to raising the quality of life in the communities we operate in by generating jobs, perspectives, and opportunities for people’s development and growth.
