Yuzu, a versatile citrus fruit, has captivated chefs worldwide with its unique flavor and aroma. This enthusiasm is particularly strong in Europe, especially in France, where demand for yuzu has surged in recent years.
Japan remains the largest producer and consumer of yuzu, with Kochi Prefecture leading the way. As the top yuzu production region, Kochi accounts for approximately 51% of Japan’s annual yuzu output, which exceeds 27,000 tons.
Since 2014, DKSH Japan has been exporting premium yuzu juice and oil sourced from Kochi. In response to the growing global demand, we have strengthened local distribution networks through DKSH France and expanded our product offerings to include yuzu juice, oil, and powder for a variety of culinary and industrial applications.
As part of this initiative, DKSH actively supports sustainable agriculture by addressing labor shortages in yuzu harvesting within Kochi Prefecture. By collaborating with local farmers and stakeholders, we provide resources and innovative solutions to streamline harvesting processes and attract new workers to the industry. This program not only ensures the long-term viability of yuzu farming but also contributes to preserving the cultural and economic significance of yuzu production in the region.
Aligned with DKSH’s mission of “Enriching People’s Lives,” this initiative reflects our commitment to fostering resilient communities. It underscores our Social Impact Strategy, which focuses on creating meaningful, lasting benefits for the people and environments where we operate, ensuring that both local traditions and global sustainability thrive together.
At DKSH, our purpose is to enrich people’s lives. We do so by providing reliable access to high-quality and responsible products and services, creating sustainable value for our partners, and contributing to raising the quality of life in the communities we operate in by generating jobs, perspectives, and opportunities for people’s development and growth.
