In an era of heightened global uncertainty, supply chain leaders are under immense pressure to ensure the continuity and efficiency of their operations.
Delia Sun, Head of Supply Chain Management at DKSH, and Billy Yeung, Senior Director of Supply Chain Management for Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China, share their insights on navigating the evolving supply chain landscape.
Building Resilience
"The global supply chain has faced significant challenges in the past couple of years, from the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to the ongoing geopolitical tensions and other external factors," says Delia Sun. "However, we also see ample opportunities for optimization and transformation as we look ahead."
DKSH’s key focus area is enhancing supply chain resilience through diversification and digital transformation. "Resilience is undoubtedly the cornerstone of our approach," explains Billy Yeung.
He adds: "By investing in strategic pillars like diversification, digitalization, and sustainability, we aim to build more agile, efficient, and future-ready supply chains that can adapt to the evolving business environment."
AI Integration
One critical way DKSH is driving this transformation is by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its supply chain operations. "AI-powered tools enable us to analyze vast amounts of data, identify potential disruptions, and make data-driven decisions about our sourcing, production, and logistics strategies," says Yeung.
He adds: "This allows us to anticipate challenges, rather than just reacting to them, and ensure the continuous flow of goods and materials across our global network."
Supply Chain Diversification
Diversifying the supply chain footprint is another crucial element of DKSH's strategy. "While China remains a critical part of the global supply chain, we are seeing increased activity and investment in alternative manufacturing hubs, such as Southeast Asia, India, and other emerging markets," Delia Sun explains.
"This diversification strategy brings both challenges and opportunities, as companies navigate complex regulatory and operational environments across a wider geographic spread."
To address these challenges, the DKSH team emphasizes the importance of fostering collaboration and visibility across the supply chain ecosystem. "By working closely with our partners, suppliers, and customers, we can enhance end-to-end transparency and agility, ensuring we can quickly adapt to disruptions and capitalize on new opportunities," Yeung adds.
As the supply chain landscape continues to evolve, DKSH remains committed to staying at the forefront of innovation and best practices. "Our goal is to build resilient, sustainable, and future-ready supply chains that can withstand the test of time," Delia Sun concludes.
"By empowering our teams with the right tools and strategies, we are confident in our ability to navigate the challenges and seize the opportunities that lie ahead."
