The recent analytica 2024 trade fair in Munich, Germany, emerged as a pinnacle event in the international laboratory sector. The highly anticipated tradeshow drew a crowd of over 34,000 industry professionals, featured 185 presentations, and showcased 1,066 exhibitors, including DKSH Technology.
Amidst the flurry of activities, Marco Farina, the Senior Director of Business Development and Center of Excellence at DKSH Business Unit Technology, spoke with Instrument Business Outlook (IBO) and shared key insights into the company's strategic priorities for the year. He also laid out his perspectives on the current market dynamics and outlook for the scientific instruments industry.
Market Presence and Strategic Expansion
DKSH Business Unit Technology's Scientific Solutions business line operates with a team of 800 sales and service professionals across 80 offices and 20 demonstration laboratories. The business distributes scientific instruments within APEC, which includes Southeast Asia, the Far East, and Oceania. Marco Farina highlighted the company's range of expertise across materials science, life science, biopharma, and food and beverage markets.
He also shared with IBO about DKSH’s recent partnerships, including new agreements with PacBio and an enhanced agreement with Analytik Jena. These partnerships, which involve the distribution of cutting-edge technologies, are expected to enhance DKSH's life sciences portfolio and strengthen its position in the life sciences segment.
Farina emphasized DKSH Business Unit Technology's role as an integrated solutions provider, covering the entire product life cycle and offering strong application capabilities and after-sales services. "One of our strategic priorities is consumables and services," he said.
The company's average repair time has been reduced to 48 hours, a testament to its efficient service. In addition to attaining shorter turnaround times for repairs, DKSH also launched an eCommerce website, LabShop, primarily for its consumables and smaller equipment. The eCommerce platform will serve customers in 14 markets by the end of the year.
Growth Opportunities in the Region
Focusing on Southeast Asia, Farina shed light on the growth opportunities in Thailand following the elections, which caused budget delays. He also mentioned DKSH's strength in markets like Vietnam and Indonesia. As for the market condition in China, he noted that DKSH's materials science product lines continued to perform better than other segments despite the country's declining expenditure on lab equipment.
Farina underscored DKSH Technology's great market coverage, deep understanding of changing trends, and ability to navigate diverse business landscapes. With a focus on customer satisfaction and growth initiatives, DKSH remains committed to empowering researchers and advancing scientific progress.
