Over the last 25 years ICP-OES spectrometers, also known as ICP-AES or ICP plasma spectrometers, have become an indispensable tool for chemical elemental analysis. Optical emission spectrometers with inductively coupled plasma (ICP plasma) excitation sources offer ease of use, high sensitivity and precision and relative freedom from interferences. ICP-OES systems have now become the analytical method of choice for a wide range of applications.

Since the introduction of its first ICP spectrometer, SPECTRO has managed to continuously set performance benchmarks.

Available models

Spectro ICP-OES Spectrometers Arcos

The SPECTRO ARCOS ICP-OES analyzer represents a new pinnacle of productivity and performance for inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometers

  • One instrument instead of two: Only MultiView plasma instrument in the market ‒ true axial AND true radial plasma observation in a single instrument
  • ORCA Optical System: Simultaneous spectrum capture in the 130-770 nm wavelength range with up to 5x more sensitivity than Echelle based systems - delivers best in class performance in the UV/VUV range
  • LDMOS Generator: Up to 2000 W power and robust enough to handle volatile organics and high dissolved solids with ease

The SPECTRO ARCOS ICP-OES excels in industrial and academic applications for the most advanced elemental analysis of metals, chemicals, petrochemicals, and other materials.

The periscope-free MultiView mechanism lets an operator literally "turn" a radial-view instrument into an axial-view device, or vice-versa, in 90 seconds or less.

The design of the SPECTRO ARCOS ensures exceptionally low operating costs over a long, reliable service life. And it packs a modern, ergonomic chassis with proven features such as no-purge UV-PLUS sealed gas purification technology, no-external-cooling OPI-Air Interface.

Spectro ICP-OES Spectrometers Green

SPECTROGREEN inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) available in 3 versions: revolutionary Dual Side-On Interface (DSOI), Twin Interface (TI) or Side-On-Plasma (SOP) technology

  • New revolutionary Dual Side-On Interface (DSOI) technology that achieves twice the sensitivity of conventional radial-plasma-view instruments
  • TI technology enables highest sensitivity for trace elements, as well as freedom from matrix interferences plus good accuracy for challenging environmental matrices
  • New GigE readout system that enables spectra transport in less than 100 ms for faster analysis speeds, shorter sample-to-sample times, and more samples per hour
  • Extremely agile, LDMOS generator that makes external cooling unnecessary: analyze difficult sample matrices in lower dilutions for lower limits of detection — faster warmup (~10 minutes) for higher productivity

SPECTRO’s new DSOI technology, a brand-new approach to the critical issue of plasma view design, uses a vertical plasma torch, observed via a new direct radial-view technology. Two optical interfaces capture emitted light from both sides of the plasma, using only a single extra reflection, for added sensitivity and elimination of issues plaguing newer vertical-torch dual-view models. As a result, DSOI provides twice the sensitivity of conventional radial systems — yet avoids the complexity, drawbacks, and cost of vertical dual view models.

The Twin Interface model automatically combines both axial and radial plasma views — looking both across the plasma and from end-to-end — optimizing sensitivity, linearity, and dynamic range while avoiding matrix effects like EIE. The result: SPECTROGREEN TI offers the highest sensitivity for trace elements, as well as freedom from matrix interferences plus good accuracy for challenging environmental matrices.

The SPECTROGREEN SOP features a dedicated radial, single side-on interface for stability and precise performance where the added sensitivity of the DSOI is not needed.

All three SPECTROGREEN versions deliver ultra-reliable, accurate analyses of elements — trace as well as higher concentrations — in challenging matrices, such as certain wastewaters, soils, and sludges, as well as organic, high-salts, and metal samples. SPECTROGREEN is ideal for routine elemental analyses in environmental and agronomy, consumer product safety, pharmaceutical, chemical/petrochemical, and food applications.

Spectro ICP-OES Spectrometers Genesis

The first and only ICP-OES spectrometer available with a complete set of factory methods

  • Powerful alternative to sequential ICP and FAA: simultaneous spectrum capture in the 175-770 nm wavelength range with the capability to analyze up to 700 samples per day
  • Low operating costs: minimal 0.5 l/min optic purge, no water chiller necessary
  • Faster out of the gate: less than 10 minutes warmup time (previously over 30) with the new LDMOS generator

The SPECTRO GENESIS is the first and only ICP-OES (also referred to as ICP-AES or ICP plasma) spectrometer available with a complete set of factory methods – truly “plug & analyze” without needing to first develop a method. These factory methods cover all common environmental and industrial applications, like Waste Water, Soil, Sewage Sludge, Wear Metals and Additives in Oil, Crude Oil, Diesel Fuel and Biodiesel.

Compliant to national and international norms, the SPECTRO GENESIS ICP-OES is delivered ready for use straight out of the box with an application package that includes the sample introduction system, sample preparation instructions and method documentation. An extensive package of accessories is available for the SPECTRO GENESIS to further expand its application range.

The SPECTRO GENESIS ICP-OES, also referred to as ICP-AES or an ICP plasma spectrometer, offers a real economic alternative to sequential ICP and Atomic Absorption spectrometers, enabling those who are unfamiliar with ICP to profit from the advantages of leading CCD ICP technology and to use a powerful, low cost and user friendly analytical system.
