Backed by more than 100 years of experience, MONIN is the world’s leading provider of premium gourmet flavorings in over 150 markets around the world. It has developed over 150 flavors of syrups, all made from natural ingredients. It has also expanded its flavor ranges to include gourmet sauces, fruit purees and frappe powders.

From its five production facilities worldwide including in France, USA, Malaysia and China, and with over 690 employees worldwide, MONIN products help to produce more than eight million drinks around the world each day.

Tasty gourmet flavors of MONIN sips into Malaysian shores

Challenge

Despite its prominence, it was essential for MONIN to further cement its presence in Malaysia’s competitive hotel, restaurant and café market segment. It was also looking to penetrate the growing bakery segment where businesses have limited experience using MONIN’s products.

As they lacked the manpower and assets to manage logistics and distribution aspects for their market expansion plans, MONIN sought out a trusted partner that had the knowledge, market experience and who are familiar with the local retail industry to push their products out to the target market and intended customers.

Approach

We used our professional sales force who are experienced specialists in the hotel, restaurant and café market as well as in the bakery and retail segments to build product awareness among food operators across the market.

Our in-house technical team of professional chefs and mixologists also provided technical advisory beyond beverage creation for customers to be innovative with their menu of beverages and culinary recipes.

In addition to participating in prominent trade fairs and specialized food and beverage-related events across the country, we also helped to organize MONIN roadshows and food demonstrations at bakery ingredient stores, staged product sampling in upmarket retail outlets and developed promotions at retail outlets to raise brand visibility.

Result

MONIN recorded over 20 percent higher sales revenue than the year before it collaborated with DKSH. DKSH also helped expand its distribution points to nearly 860 outlets across the key market segments of hotels, restaurants, cafés, bakeries and retail stores in Malaysia.
