Digital transformation has been the catalyst in driving economies around the world amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. According to the World Intellectual Property Organization Global Innovation Index 2021, innovation was a key ingredient in facing unprecedented challenges and creation of more resilient organizations and societies.
Switzerland tops the list with Sweden and the US making up the top three. As in previous years, the majority of the top ten most innovative economies continue to be from Europe.
Representing Asia is Singapore in eight spot and China in 12th spot. Notable middle-income economies from Asia that are changing the innovation landscape include Thailand (43), Vietnam (44), India (46) and the Philippines (51).
