Enriching Children’s Lives Through Art and Holistic Education

Reading literacy and numeracy skills have deteriorated among Thai children following the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the survey by the National Statistical Office and the United Nations Children’s Fund, in 2022, only 47% of Grade Two and Three children had basic reading skills. Similarly, only 40% of children had basic numeracy skills.

The report showed that 75% of children aged between three and four attended early childhood education in 2022, compared with 86% in 2019. The survey also revealed that more children of primary education age stayed out of school in 2022.

In continuing to empower children in the local communities, DKSH in Thailand initiated an educational campaign to supply educational books to local schools. As a reflection of our employees’ passion to support the cause, we received almost 6,800 books for this campaign.

We organized activities focused on health, safety, and sustainability for children. These included road safety awareness and waste separation workshops for children at the Wat Bua Roi (Chaloem Rat Witthayakhan) School in Samutprakarn and Samahan Suksa School in Bangkok.

The event also featured an interactive art workshop for children enabling students to unleash their creativity and compete for prizes by crafting their unique artwork. Sponsored by Faber Castell, the workshop taught children creative coloring techniques using pastel and oil coloring tools.

At DKSH, our purpose is to enrich people’s lives. We do so by providing reliable access to high-quality and responsible products and services, creating sustainable value for our partners, and contributing to raising the quality of life in the communities we operate in by generating jobs, perspectives, and opportunities for people’s development and growth.
