Cummins’ generators power up a farm to fork food producer in Laos

Challenge

Laos’ national electrical grid is not always reliable and power outages occur rather frequently, particularly in remote areas where most of the country’s farms are located. To overcome this, our customer was looking for power backup solutions including diesel generator sets.

Like many multinationals in Laos, CPF often works with foreign companies in their projects. As such, it was not easy to convince them to use a local business partner or that we can meet their demand for fast delivery and swift installation timeframe.

Approach

One key advantage we have is our strong local presence in Laos. Because of this, we have a lower operating cost as compared to a foreign-based provider. We were also able to provide faster response times, especially during emergency and downtime situations.

Based on our customer’s needs, we provided a comprehensive range of services which included the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of eight Cummins generator sets installed over four different sites in Laos. Cummins’ generators are renowned for their quality, low fuel consumption, low noise, big output power and reliable performance.

Result

Since the installation of the generator sets, our customer has expressed their satisfaction with the quality and reliability of the equipment. While they were impressed with our success in delivering and installing all the equipment across all the designated locations, they were also pleased with our integrated services that included advisory and after-sales support.

Following this successful partnership, we are working with CPF on the possibility of supporting their plans to upgrade their machinery and also potentially on supplying a bio-methane gas generator for its new farms.
